Academics
Small, but perfectly formed
We are a small school for girls with one class per Grade from Grade R to Grade 7.
Our approximate total enrolment is 249 girls.
Curriculum
We are a Western Cape Education Department (W.C.E.D.) school and follow the CAPS curriculum as set out by the WCED.
Our Foundation Phase places a strong emphasis on developing the core skills that will enable future learning. The building blocks of phonics, reading, writing and numeracy are integral to this phase. Comprehension and thinking skills are valued and taught. The Foundation Phase CAPS curriculum allows us to offer English, Afrikaans, Maths and Life Skills (drama, dance, physical education and life skills).
The Intermediate and Senior Phase continue promoting reading, writing and
isiXhosa is offered from Grade 1 to Grade 7.
Remedial lessons, occupational therapy (at parent’s own cost) and counselling are offered to those children who need them.
Our Academic Goals
Greenfield enjoys an excellent reputation in the community. The school’s academic results are outstanding and many girls go on to high school having won academic and music scholarships to surrounding, prestigious schools. However, our primary vision, shared by every teacher, is to lay strong academic foundations that will equip our girls for further learning with the ultimate purpose of entering the workplace and making a contribution to our society.
We are equally proud of the participation and success of our girls in the fields of dance, drama, art and sport. This balance in their education allows them to explore and develop various aspects of their lives.
